CBD or THC: What Are the Differences?
They are often confused, yet CBD and THC are very different. Both are cannabinoids from hemp, but their effects and legal status have nothing in common. Here is what you need to know.
Two cannabinoids, one plant
Hemp contains dozens of cannabinoids. The two best known are CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). They come from the same plant but act differently on the body. For the basics, see our guide what is CBD.
The key difference: the psychoactive effect
This is THE essential distinction:
- THC is psychoactive: it produces the “high", alters perception and can lead to dependence. It is classified as a narcotic.
- CBD is NOT psychoactive: it does not get you high, does not alter your state of consciousness and does not cause dependence. It is valued for a feeling of relaxation, while keeping a clear head.
The legal difference
In France and across the European Union, THC is banned above a very low threshold. CBD is legal provided the product contains less than 0.3% THC. All our products respect this threshold and are lab-tested. More details in CBD legality and delivery.
Why choose CBD?
CBD lets you enjoy the aromatic qualities of hemp and a moment of relaxation, without the effects and risks of THC, and entirely legally. That is what makes it a popular alternative for winding down gently.

FAQ — CBD and THC
Does CBD get you high?
No. CBD is not psychoactive: it produces no high whatsoever.
Does CBD contain THC?
Our products contain less than 0.3% THC, in line with European regulations — a tiny trace, with no psychoactive effect.
Is CBD detected by a saliva test?
Roadside tests look for THC, not CBD. However, heavy consumption of products containing traces of THC could theoretically affect a test: caution remains advisable before driving.
Does CBD cause dependence?
No, unlike THC. CBD is even being studied to help reduce cannabis consumption.
